Lulu Letty: February 2011

March Movie Madness

Two movies that come out on March 11th that I'm pretty excited about...

Jane Eyre: I've always loved the BBC version with Toby Stephens and Ruth Wilson and I hope this one is equally as good.

Red Riding Hood: The tale always fascinated me as a girl and I love Gary Oldman.
...
Will any of you be seeing these as well? Any other movies you're excited about?

Yours,
Maria Sig 2

As you can see, I'm brunette again. Well, it was supposed to be dark blonde, but dyes always seem to turn out darker on my hair, maybe it will fade a bit. Anyways, I liked the blonde I had, but my hair was seriously damaged and breaking all the time. So I decided to dye it as close as I could to my natural color and just let it all grow out again. My hair color adventures were fun, but expensive and damaging. It seems I've come full circle.

So I took the vintage coat I thrifted this past fall and decided to give it a velvet collar. I've been wanting to attempt this little DIY since before the holidays, but never had the time. I finally sat down today and made it happen. It's not perfect and I plan on fixing some bits, but overall I'm very pleased with the results.

I can't believe this is my first shoot in over a week! I'm still having a rough go with my Hashimoto's and have been trying to rest as much as possible. Recently I discovered that I have a strange subset of Hashi's, which likes to cause more havoc then normal, called Hashitoxicosis. It's very frustrating and harder to treat. My doctor said the only thing I can do for now is stop my meds, since they seem to be causing the bad flareups. He said there was pretty much nothing he can do for me. I seriously can't wait to move and have better health insurance and more money for alternative treatments. Cole found a really great Traditional Chinese Medicine clinic in the Twin Cities that has a few practitioners that specialize in thyroid problems and autoimmune diseases. So at least there's that to look forward to in a few months.

Paper Dolls

Lately, I've rekindled my love of paper dolls. I forgot how wonderfully fun and creative the craft can be. The Black Apple's Paper Doll Primer book was bought on a whim with some extra Christmas money and was definitely worth every penny. The pages are so beautifully illustrated by the author, Emily Winfield Martin, that you feel transported just flipping through the pages. There are so many different doll options provided with lovely clothes, accessories and wigs to go with them. I'm still too scared to actually cut anything out and ruin it's beauty (I'll probably make photocopies instead), but I have grand plans to make a paper doll banner.
Paper Dolls

I found a great alternative to traditional paper dolls with these amazing fabric wall decals from the Etsy shop, Mae. Again, you are given many different clothing, accessory and wig options. Plus, all pieces are reusable and can withstand some tough treatment. When I move to Mpls, I plan on buying a few different sets for my desk area!

LIFE: tiny and big dogs

LIFE has the most wonderful collection of old celebrity photos with both their tiny dogs and big dogs. Cole and I often talk about adding to our furry family, in particular a big dog, but we need more space first. Lots more space. Plus, truth be told- Wellie and Pip are sometimes more than enough to handle. So, which type do you prefer...tiny, big or both?

Blonde on Blonde

As my roots grow in, I'm wondering what shade of blonde I'll do next... Blonde on Blonde

I'm equally drawn to both medium blonde and light blonde- but I don't think lighter would suit me or my fried hair.

A Valentine Picnic

A Valentine Picnic
Yesterday, Cole and I decided to celebrate our Valentine's day. It was quite a wonderful day from start to finish. Cole surprised me in the morning with a my favorite frappuccino and a delicious omelet in bed. After being lazy for a few hours, we could no longer stay indoors and miss out on such a lovely day. It was so sunny and warm that Cole suggested a picnic. We walked to the golf course near our place and had quite a lovely time sitting on a bed of needles beneath the trees. Many of you probably remember that we love going on champagne picnics and since it had been so long since our last one in September, I was just so glad to be able to sit there and take advantage of the weather.
