Wrinkled My Brain

Sometimes blogging seriously boggles my mind. Remember the post I wrote about the amazing Lena Hoscheck? Well, the incredibly talented lady herself wrote me last night to thank both You and me for all the lovely words about her collection! I seriously squealed when I saw her very kind email!! Lena even went so far as to post a link to my blog on her facebook page. Eeeek!

Thank you Lena for being not only an inspiring designer, but a wonderfully kind person.

Some of you have already noticed my new header. I appreciate your kind words and I'm glad you like it! I get bored really easily with my header drawings, so I was ready for a change which was inspired by yesterday's post.

Here's the drawing that I turned into a polaroid. Oh, and FYI that is my actual handwriting on the polaroid and also at the bottom of every post. My mom calls my penmanship chicken scratch. ;)

Also, thank you for sharing all your stories about your parent's and how they influenced your fashion and music tastes! And even if they didn't, I feel that has an impact as well, because it makes you define your look on your own. Either way, I truly enjoyed reading all your comments. But then again, I do everyday. ;)

My Mild Obsession- the late 70's to early 80's

Due to the heavy snowfall we received in Michigan, I had to take indoor photos. I apologize for their fuzziness. ;0

Some of you may not know this, but I have a mild obsession with clothes from the late seventies to early eighties. Ever since I was little, I've felt drawn to that specific time period. This obsession, I feel, can be correlated with my parents. They were in their early twenties during that time and newlyweds. From music to fashion, their tastes from those years had a major impact on me.

Plus, the late seventies to early eighties brought such awesome sportswear looks to the forefront. As much as I like being a girlie girl, my go-to looks are always a bit sporty and preppy.

Apricot by Ben Briand

After watching this video on Tralalere!, I was completely mesmerized. I recommend sitting back, drinking a nice cup of tea and enjoying the beauty that unfolds in this short film.

I ordered these awesome suede oxfords! I love their sandy color and the fact that they look like the bucks I used to wear in grade school. Fingers crossed that they look as good in person.

Thank you so much for all the sweet comments on yesterday's post!! Many of you commented on my hair and how different it looked. A few weeks ago, I had it trimmed by the lovely Carmen at Serendipity salon in Ann Arbor. The difference isn't as noticeable when it's curly, but you can definitely see the layers when it's straight.

Pips Ahoy

This is more of a modern, casual look than you're used to seeing me wear. I was sporting it yesterday and thought 'why not take some photos.'

Pip kept trying to sneak into the photos so I picked him up and made him work his cuteness for the camera.

Did everyone have a nice weekend? As usual, mine went by way too fast and I'm still not caught up on my blog reading. Bah. Why is it that ever since the holidays, I've felt so frazzled? Anyone else have this little problem? It's so weird.

Maybe I'm just so over winter.

So, I forgot to tell you about my Friday night. I went out with Cole to a few mba events at UofM, one being a mock awards ceremony. Cole was nominated for several very random categories, but he won the most fitting...Arrested for Business Crimes. That's my husband, the future felon. ;) Plus, he received an actual trophy with a creepy baby on it.

After the awards, we danced and drank a bit too much. I don't go out very often, but when I do I make the most of it. Which means I danced like a fool in front of Cole's classmates. Oh, well.

And yesterday, the lovely Tye, of Lagelle Handmade, let me know that I was featured on Etsy's front page. I have never had the honor before and it was quite wonderful. Plus, I was grouped with some great nautical items. Thank you Etsy!

And the Beat Goes On: Aimee Mann

I was a huge fan of Aimee when I was a little girl and she was still in the new wave band 'Til Tuesday. I rediscovered my love of her amazing talent during my college days, with the movie Magnolia.

Ray-Ban to the Rescue

I wasn't planning on wearing sunglasses during the shoot, but it was snowing, windy and sunny. Which meant that my eyes were a watery mess. That's when Cole's (crooked) aviators came to the rescue.

I don't know about you guys, but I've been so exhausted lately. I think I'm suffering from seasonal affective disorder! It doesn't help that it's always overcast in Michigan. Bah. I need sun and warmth tout de suite. And if I can't have that, I just want to stay in bed all day, under my down comforter, drinking hot toddies.
