R.I.P. Summer
>> Thursday, September 2, 2010
Is that too insensitive of a title? Sorry Lulu Letty readers, I have no tact. Maria so graciously asks me to guest post to celebrate the last days of summer and here I am (oh yes probably should introduce myself as Rosie over at Rosemud)taking macabre photos in a cemetary making horrible puns. I'm such a jerk. But in all seriousness, I have driven past this hidden place many a time and have been meaning to stop in and check it out. I'm so glad that I did! I took these photos really early in the morning to avoid this horrendous heat snap New England is experiencing and loved reading all the beautiful inscriptions on the old, weathered tombstones in the misty air.It is the kind of cemetary that is so old that it is almost forgotten as if no one had visited these graves in over a hundred years. It was a oddly peaceful way to spend the morning.
My outfit's inspiration was drawn from the ever so lovely Zooey Deschanel in 500 Days of Summer. I love the color of this thrifted Talbot's dress and am loving the longer length (no more legs sticking to hot leather car seats!)

Outfit Details: Dress, belt...Thrifted, Etienne Aigner Mary Janes...DSW, Locket...Forever21
Well I hope I didn't scare any of you away. Enjoy what is left of your summer!

You are pulling off that long dress like nobody's business! I love the colors in these photos.
Agree with Anja! I have difficulty pulling off long skirts AND dresses. I found your title hilarious and not morbid at all :) And the graveyard is just the (what is a good word to describe graveyards) most interesting place for photos. Balances out the summer cheeriness of your dress, I think!

What a lovely dress! I love Zooeys looks too. And the cemetary is lovely, the ones where I live look so cold and lonely, no grass, or flowers. Here in Australia im looking forward to spring and summer :)

I love this post and I am so glad Lulu picked you as a guest. The photos are beautiful. I love the Farley photo- it's funny how the wording on tombstones have changed over the years.

The dress is lovely and the location is killer..hehe that my pun for the day. Not a great one but oh well
Hi Rosie, you look ethereal in these photos! I think you chose a perfect look for a warm, misty morning.
Lovely! :)
So perfect Rosie. I miss MA graveyards sooooo much. My fave was Old Burial Hill in Marblehead and the graveyard in Manchester.
You wear long dresses so well.
Thanks you so much for the splendid guest post!!!

Rosie,
You're not a jerk! I love the cemetery... It is a perfect way to transition into fall. Agree with the other comments, you rock the length of this dress. It looks lovely and simple.
