Queen Anne's Lace
>> Monday, August 16, 2010

Cole and I found the most amazing field of Queen Anne's Lace. It was so breathtakingly beautiful and perfect for the shoot. Of course, I immediately thought of Anne of Green Gables and the scene where Diana gives Anne the last of summer's Queen Anne's Lace.
I'm wearing the floral wreath that I made on Sunday after Saturday's so-so first attempt (the wreath I wore yesterday). My second attempt went so much better after reading Lauren's excellent tutorial. I'm also wearing a vintage dress that I bought at Lost and Found Vintage in Royal Oak, MI. I had been searching for a pretty 70's prairie dress and this one was too perfect to pass up.

that dress is sooooo cute!! very prairie like ^.^
I saw the tutorial on her blog too but I haven't gotten around to making one. You just reminded me that I really want to try it! ^.^
Yours came out so pretty!
Maria, You actually look like you are in a classic fiction. You look so beautiful but otherworldly at the same time.
This post made me laugh so hard, I saw posts titled queen anne's lace on Aya's blog "Strawberry Koi" but did not understand what she was talking about, when you said field, it suddenly clicked. I had been thinking it's some kind of vintage lace dress or something. LOL
It looks great! And I love the dress!
You know what? You always have the loveliest facial expressions, so so pretty :)
The dress is dazzling, i absolutely love the animated photo and how good these shoes look with it!
Oh and I didn't know these flowers are called Queen Anne's Lace in English, that's such a beautiful name! In German it's "Schafgarbe" which sounds not so nice (I think it's because the fluffy white blossoms look like sheep, schaf = sheep).
you look so lovely in that dress!
the location is just a perfect backdrop as well.

I love your floral wreath. I recently made one but have yet to wear it. Maybe today will be the day.
oh dear, you're flower garland makes me so happy! just lovely maria!
Lovely late summer pictures. I love it when the wildflowers go to seed like that at this time of the year. Your wreath is very pretty too.
I spent my weekend (the sunniest we've had in ages) helping out on a music video shoot in a black-painted room with no windows. I felt a bit like a little bat, missing out on all the sunshine! I hope it hasn't gone for good!
Beautiful post! Great dress...great flowers. That's good that you found it at that length and didn't have to hem it. It's got such an adorable scoop pattern to it.
I went house hunting Saturday! I love looking at houses and thinking what you could do with them...
you look so angelic with the wreath on your head! perfect shots!
hmm funny stories... well this weekend i had a family get-together, and my grandmother told my 6-year-old cousin that he has a lot of aptitude, to which he replied, "I DON'T have a attitude!" It was cute. =]
what an original dress !
I really like how the print on your dress echoes the little flower field you're in! You look beyond adorable :)
Stop by sometime?

So dreamy :) I LOVE Queen Anne's Lace! I think it is so lovely :D
I would always pick handfuls of them for my mom when I was wee...she had allergies! Poor mom!

You seem to have found the perfect dress--not too full or long, not too hippie, yet very ethereal. The Queen's Anne and your hair ornament are fab.
That first photo of you is so, s pretty!
Gorgeous! Totally blown away :)

that dress is so adorable! I had a print like that when I was a little kid....it's so comforting for some reason. And the colours look lovely on you.
great post!
Looks gorgeous! What you call Queen Anne's Lace I think I call cow parsley. Interesting. (For me, at least)
i can't believe you got that at l&f! that is my absolute favorite store! my sister lives right off of main street so i go there all the time. it's so weird reading what you write and then realizing you're probably only about 20 minutes away right now and it's totally plausible you walk around RO some of the days i do... i sound kinda like a creep... XD sorry. i'm actually pretty sure i saw that dress last time i was in there.
It's like out of one of the fairy tales my dad used to tell me when I was wee.
Adorable.
