Once more unto the breach, dear friends

If you happen to follow my twitter and were on it last Wednesday at 1:26 am est you would have read the following tweet: "insomnia causes me to buy vintage breeches on etsy." Well here I am wearing said breeches. When I first put them on I felt ridiculously pear shaped, but after a bit of hanging out in my apartment, I began to gain the confidence of Katherine Hepburn in The Philadelphia Story. I must say that I'm now addicted to these breeches, even with their silly shape, they just make me feel instantly transported to 1940 Philly. What do you think? Am I a total nut job or crazy cool? Ha, I like to think I'm a bit of both.

Vintage riding breeches: Etsy, Black Rock Vintage
Canvas & leather riding boots: J.Crew, via eBay
Messenger bag: Longchamp, via eBay
Vintage bicycle: Millicent
How was your weekend? Did you do anything crazy that I can live vicariously through?
Cole and I are doing lots of odds and ends around our place before we go out of town. Which translates to tons of cleaning and organizing. We want everything ready to go, so when we get back we're not rushing around last minute before Cole starts classes. Is it weird that I get back to school anxiety by proxy?
Yours,

Adore you with your bike in the woods with everything! ALWAYS!! :) Makes me want to move to Michigan!!
goshhh you're a doll.
i absolutely love the breeches. you're whole outfit is lovely. as always. :)
i'm getting school anxiety myself, eeeek.

honestly, I am blown away by the beauty of these photos and love this outfit!
The Philadelphia Story is one of my favorite movies, and I always admired the elegance of K. Hepburn in that movie.
So, kudos to you for buying the breeches! I am envious of this outfit...I could never pull it off.
Your fall outfits are my favorite, my number one inspiration!
The pants look terrific, I have been wary of wearing them myself, but I think you make them quite lovely :)

I think if you feel confident in your pants, then it shows through your pictures! Haha I think those breeches actually look amazing on you! I really like the button details on the bottom half of the leg! Actually I love your entire outfit and how much it reminds me of riding in the English countryside :)
I totally dig this equestrian style. You pull it off beautifully! :)
Oooh I love this so much, and the photos and location too! I think I've seen this location before - infact I think I first started following your blog because of a post on Chictopia where you were at this place!
I love the breeches too, they don't make you look pear shaped!
I wish I could pull off dark lipstick like you! I tried on the weekend and I just wasn't happy with the results...
Great breeches! I did a lot of horse riding when I was younger, so I absolutely love the whole equine-fashion thing!
Nothing exciting last weekend beyond prepping for a vintage fair this weekend - it's all go!
They not only look good, they flatter your shape and make your legs look long and incredible! And the colours! You look like you're going hunting in the grounds of a stately home in a Nancy Mitford novel.
This weekend we temporarily moved into a house from which we can see the sea, to housesit for a friend. We shopped for food, cooked a white chilli and lay on the floor watching csi and drinking beer.
Oh I've missed your blog muchly! Your a doll. Everything looks good on you!
Oh my, this might be the most perfect outfit I've ever seen. I love the pants, they are the perfect shape especially with the button detail. and the jacket is straight from another century. However, I am above all in love with your boots.
& Millicent is looking as fab as ever,
hope Cole's classes go well, good luck with cleaning!
xx Vanessa

I had a nice lazy weekend - watched a Shakespeare play in the Cambridge gardens, had a picnic, lazed by the river with a friend watching the punts drift by.

this is probably my favorite outfit of yours. of course you don't look silly in breeches! the blouse is just to die for. my puppy, zuzu, has taken to chasing the pheasants and squirrels around here.
my boyfriend, dave, and i went to the renaissance festival in holly this past weekend! you should go, it's so much fun :D
I really think this might be my favourite of your posts that I've seen so far. The outfit is great--very Edwardian laddie, and the bike is fantastic!
(I also have a 70s era green bike, but it's less revamped and more still-going!)
Nice pants!
This is got to be my absolute favorite outfit of yours! You are my hero! I love the colors and mixture of textures! This is truly perfection! :)
