Lulu Letty: What's New

What's New

A few thrift store finds and a blast from the past...

What's New
I found two identical blouses at the Salvation Army. One has a few rust stains, so I think I'm going to dye it. Any color suggestions?
What's New
I sold a similar denim shirt in my shop and always regretted not keeping it. So I was very happy to find this at the SA.
What's New
A pretty Ralph Lauren ruffle blouse, also found at the SA.
What's New
I showed this D&B bag already, but I thought I would show it again. Found it on ebay for $10!

And now for the blast from the past, I found my old varsity jacket at my parents'...
What's New
Did you know I was a jock? It's true. I participated in many sports in my younger years: soccer, basketball, tennis, swimming, track, golf, skiing and even one horrible season of softball. In high school I narrowed it down to tennis and track. Even though all these different sports kept me in great shape, my knees and hips are now horribly shot to shite.

Perhaps a deep burgandy or blue for the shirt?

Kate Maggie  – (July 12, 2010 11:36 PM)

my vote is red wine, a deep maroon! :) And that jacket is the best thing I have seen all day. I am obsessed with it!! x

Daphne  – (July 12, 2010 11:54 PM)

I think deep navy would be fantastic for that blouse. Great finds. I love finding old leather dooney and bourke bags. I have three that I use all the time. Love your jacket, too! Do you have any photos of you being a "jock"? Woudl be so cute to see!

Wow that Victorian blouse is lovely! Perhaps a cream or peach color? Love your varsity jacket, I've been looking for one just like it!

Shelby  – (July 13, 2010 12:30 AM)

that jacket would look so good over a really feminine dress! i know what you mean, i played soccer for 16 years and now my knees hurt when the weather gets cold. i'm like an old man (or a barometer).

Not only a jock, but a league champ!

I figure my jacket is buried away somewhere at the Forestdale estate

Maria, try this for removing rust stains: rub fresh lemon juice onto the stain and set out in the sun for a couple of hours. The rust should naturally bleach out.

What lovely finds! The jock flashback was very cute. :)

Ooh, you're dyeing a blouse! I'm thinking a nice peach colour - or for something a little different, how about grey or lilac? You were very sporty in school! Do you still do any sports?

Swalvs  – (July 13, 2010 4:25 AM)

The first blouse is really beautiful... If you're planning to dye, I think you can use a very light pinky brown color... I think you know which color I'm talking about! :)

B  – (July 13, 2010 5:19 AM)

The varsity jacket is definitely cool. I like that you're a jock. i was a big one in HS though it doesn't seem likely looking at my girly blog :P

I hope you wear the jacket in a future post

Wow I never would have figured you for an athlete! I'm totally jealous. Sports hate me. The only physical activity I ever got involved in was dancing (streetdance/breakdance, that kind of thing) and I miss it terribly.

Ooh how about something pastel, like a pale pink, for the blouse? (:

Justice Pirate  – (July 13, 2010 6:40 AM)

That is good that you narrowed down on the sports. I think some kids have too much going on in their activities plus schooling that it stresses them out so much more! That is great that you were so active! Do you still participate in sports now? I used to be really really big on swimming & roller blading and now I just wish I had the ability to do those things, maybe when the kids are a little older and I can do the activities with them.

Sahakiel  – (July 13, 2010 6:40 AM)

Oh, cute! I think you should dyed the blouse into a brown or dark rouge color, perfect for autumn! And the last jacket it's so cool, I've always love those kind of jackets, they remind me to the film "Grease"!

Velvet  – (July 13, 2010 8:22 AM)

Oh, lovely jacket.

Sadly here in my city vintage is very scarce...

Little Monarch  – (July 13, 2010 7:17 PM)

i think the blouse would look quite nice in peach. also, that jacket of yours is amazing, what a great thing to find in your parents wardrobe x

nancy : The Sway Report  – (July 13, 2010 7:53 PM)

Oh, love the thrift store finds. I found a victorian blouse much like the one you have there! It was a JCPenney brand ... how odd, right? I think the blouse would look nice with a mint or periwinkle color.

These are fantastic finds. The only SA store I have around here is pretty junky, but it seems like you have a lot of luck.
How do you dye clothing?
