The Storm Rolled In
>> Monday, July 12, 2010
Last night, Cole and I enjoyed another champagne picnic, till the clouds came to rain on our parade.

Some of you might remember this babydoll dress from my shop. Well, I stole it from there. After it hadn't sold for a few weeks, I felt it was too pretty to be sitting there just to go on sale. So I'm keeping it for myself and I think I'm in love. It's both perfect for now, being loose and flowy, and it will be perfect in winter with thick tights and a warm sweater.

Photos by me and Cole. Thanks, darling!
Vintage 90's babydoll: stolen from my shopBlack hat and dot tights: Target
Vintage Ferragamos: ebay
Brown glasses: Oliver Peoples, Deacon
Vintage Coach bag: thrifted

You are truly a gem.
Yours,

i LOVE your champagne picnics!!! so cute...i need to find some time to have one, too!
I saw you featured on Wish Wish Wish & did a little *squee* inside, I love to see the US blogs I love so much being recognised by fellow UK bloggers. Go you! Oh & total brilliant call on nabbing that floral dress. It was obviously a sign that you were meant to have it!
You seriously have one of the brightest smiles I have ever seen.
I love reading your blog and I'm sorry I haven't commented before! Your outfits are beautiful, you are beautiful, your blog is wonderful.
Good on you for stealing that dress! It's gorgeous! How could you have left it in the shop for so long?
The photo of you lying down is beautiful (:
That dress is so lovely, the print and shape are so perfect! Your photos are always so beautiful, and I love your blog :)
Ah! Blossom and Punky Brewster were my fashion icons! Love it.
I was in LOVE with the show Blossom as a kid (. . or was it that I was in love with Joey Lawrence? . . haha. WOAH!)
You know I don't know if you have netflix at all but they have the show available on there. I've had it on my que for the longest time and really need to move it up. It went from 300 to 60. . .I don't think I can wait much longer.
You TOTALLY remind me of Blossom with this set! Although much more pretty of course. You look a little like Six but in your own way, honestly!!
Love the set. I think the shot of you laying in the grass is my favourite!
You were completely right to keep that dress for yourself! It's the perfect summer dress and it looks superb on you
Love this outfit Maria, you look gorgeous! The print on the dress looks fabulous. I would probably end up stealing it if it had been in my shop too!
i absolutely looooove blossom! i still reference her all the time whenever i see an outfit (or a crazy crushed velvet hat!) that reminds me of her. and that babydoll dress is perfection :-)
You guys have such fun adventures together. Champagne picnics? That's awesome. I keep meaning to have picnics with my friends, but we never do it, because we're so lazy. Soon! Soon! Well I'm glad you decided to keep the floral babydoll! You look beautiful and the sunset is gorgeous. Glad you guys left before it started to rain!
You look gorgeous and I love the scenery, it looks out of a dream.
hahaha! i remember blossom. when i was waitressing at south coast plaza, she and her parents came in to eat and i was her server. a few others were haley mills (from the original parent trap), chris o donnell and brendan frazier.
anyhoo, your dress is cute, definitely a keeper.
Now that you mention it, it is a Blossom outfit! I think we are showing our age.
Now, is that Cole's favorite baseball hat? I think I am starting to recognize it. Matt has dozens of hats and he just wears the same one.
You are so cute! I love Carrie's blog as well i'st really inspiring.
Amazing sunset...
great photos! looks like a perfect day : )
That was one of my favorite dresses from your shop! It's so cute on you, I would have kept it too ^.~
and yes, very Blossom but toned down!! love it!
You and your husband are adorable, I love that you are always having picnics or going on bike rides. And you are totally channeling Blossom here! I preferred the 'Clarissa Explains It All' back at the time, but I can see now that Blossom was much more stylish! xxx
That is an adorable dress, and you're right about this being a "Blossom" look. I used to love that show, and even had a Blossom hat when I was 12 (red, with a turned up brim in front and a huge flower).
lol Everytime I wear my hat like that, kyle calls me Blossom. Very funny. I am glad you kept the dress, it is too cute, I am going to have to look for one soon too :)
I love these pictures, the light and colours are amazing, and your outfit is just lovely!!

It's funny you mentioned Blossom. For awhile my nickname was Six (her slightly less cool but extremely entertaining best friend) because of my insistence on wearing ridiculous hats. Luckily the nickname faded but my affinity for hats is alive and well!
You always have such a great atmosphere in all of your photos and these are no exception.
I always love that little bag! And these picnics are fabulous.
xo
Oh my goodness, this dress! I came so close to buying it, I even added it to my cart, but I was on my shopping ban :(
Oh well, it looks beautiful on you, and I love how you styled it! The very top left photo is brilliant, you have such a gorgeous smile.
X
PS. I imagined it with wool tights and a sweater/cardigan in winter too. It will look fantastic.
Beautiful photos and lovely outfit! Ah, Blossom. Memories!
Awesome dress! Looking wonderful!
yup! this is totally blossom! dress, hat, & bangs! lol
i love that you guys frequently have picnics... something that we don't do enough...

I can definalty see why you keep the dress, it's gorgeous on you :)
I remember Blossom...it was my favourtie show!

How dreamy! It looks like you had a glorious picnic :)
I freakin' loved Blossom! She was my style icon...hats and all.
I think that's why I like your blog!
I adore your collection of flowerprint items! Always classy and never too busy.
You have the best style, girl!
We shop owners are our best customers! I've kept a lot of my inventory too! I know I should stop that but I couldn't help it! LOL! :)
tee hee hee i love the one of you on the swing with the champagne bottle. you are all class. Also, you jus tneed a huge sunflower on your hat and you're blossom all over :-)
Well I think that dress looks just great on you! And what a great location! Daisy Dayz Home
Oh I love that fourth shot, how lovely. My favourite memories are of summer picnics where the clouds come in and rain on us! Just before it starts raining is the most amazing feeling!
I loved Blossom!! I can definitely see the influence here. The dress looks great on you!
i LOVE champagne and have never thought to bring it on a picnic...what am i thinking!?!?!? next bike picnic adventure, i am stopping to get me some...you are a genius! by the way soo glad you kept that dress you look great in it!
This is so beautiful! Really love every piece in your outfit so much! You look amazing in it!
Lovely post! I remember Blossom, I used to love that show and yes that outfit is reminiscent of that show. These pictures by you and Cole are inspiring! Makes me want to go on a picnic with my bf except it's Winter where I stay and the picnic would most likely have to be indoors!

Champagne picnics sounds so casual yet fancy at the same time!

Ooh I love the idea of a champagne picnic...I've never done this before w/ my husband, but now I'm thinking I would like to do so. Thanks for the idea:-) You look so pretty in this outfit..lol..it is Blossom like. I used to love that show (and her infamous hats)! Your pics are beautiful.
A champagne picnic sounds lovely!
I always think of blossom whenever I break out my black bowler hat, which is kind of strange when you think of it since the hats she wore were so much more intense.
Loving the Blossom mention!
I love your picnic photos! Your outfit does remind me of Blossom in the most awesome way possible! You're a beauty!

Haha, good call on mentioning Blossom! My sister and I were talking not that long ago about how we used to want to be her and how she used to dress like her. I even sent her a picture of it on my facebook.
The modernized Blossom suits you very well, and great pictures as always!

you should wear glasses in every single outfit post ! cause you look stunning in them ; )
Can Kev and I please come on a champagne picnic with you guys?? How fun!! I love picnics but adding champagne seems so special. After baby comes thats is what I will be bringing!
Awww, picnics seem like a cute little thing to do. I hop I can go out and do one someday...
Love it, love it, love it. I want to be you.
Thanks,
